Richard Holtorf replaces Rep. Kimmi Lewis, who died earlier this month
Richard Holtorf, a military veteran and cattle rancher, became the newest member of the Colorado House of Representatives on Saturday, replacing Rep. Kimmi Lewis, who died this month.
Holtorf, a Republican from Washington County, will represent House District 64, which encompasses Baca, Bent, Crowley, Elbert, Kiowa, Las Animas, Lincoln, Prowers and Washington counties in southeastern Colorado.
He earned the necessary 58 delegate votes, outlasting four other candidates at a vacancy committee meeting in Elbert County. State law dictates that a political party’s central committee may form a vacancy committee to select a candidate of the same party as the person who vacated the seat…..

Colorado JBS Plant toured by State Legislators
I toured the JBS plant last Friday, August 18. The group picture is JBS staff , Holtorf and 3 other legislators. Reps Gabe Evans, Ryan Armagost, and State Senator Byron Pelton. The cattle industry is vital to our rural Colorado economy and the JBS processing plant employs thousands of good people and processes 5000 head of cattle a day.
