First Commitment to Colorado Bill Passes Through House

Denver, Colorado – Today, in the Colorado House of Representatives, House Bill 22-1057, the Public Employees’ Retirement Association Employment After Teacher Retirement Act, sponsored by Representative Mary Bradfield (R-Colorado Springs), PASSED the House of Representatives in a 63-1 vote.

House Bill 22-1057 temporarily allows retired teachers to substitute teach without a limit on the number of days they can work in any school district with critical substitute teacher shortages. This bill is part of our Commitment to Colorado legislative package and is a top priority for Republicans.

Representative Mary Bradfield said, “This bill is an important step in addressing substitute teacher shortages across the State of Colorado and supporting our teachers and students across the state. I am proud of the bipartisan support for this legislation and look forward to seeing it pass quickly through the Senate Chamber and be signed by the Governor.”
